Aeroseal® Duct Sealing by Comfort Monster
Seal Your Ducts Safely and Efficiently
The US EPA states that duct leakage of 20 to 30 percent is common in US homes. 20-30 percent! That means that nearly one third of the energy you are spending on heating and cooling your home is completely wasted. In addition, you are probably pulling in dust, mold, mildew, and other unhealthy things from your crawl space or attic into your home.

Even the best duct installations still leak 10-15%. That’s because ducts are normally sealed from the outside with tape or painted on mastic and it’s very easy to miss lots and lots of small air penetrations.
Our patented technology seals your ducts from the inside out!
How Does it Work?
First we seal all of the supply and return grills (the intended supply and return of air).
Then we connect our equipment and run a leakage test. This is done on a computer, and we can review the live results or share a printout with you, showing the leakage of your ductwork before we seal it.
Next, we prepare our equipment to seal your ductwork from the inside, using a completely safe aerosol sealant. The sealant targets the areas of the ductwork where air is currently leaking.
As the sealant is applied the computer reads the reduction in air leakage. Once the target rate is reached — usually a 90-95% reduction in leakage — the process is complete.
Finally, we carefully remove all of our equipment and supply and return seals, and return your home to its original state, with beautifully sealed and efficient ductwork.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to Aeroseal® my ducts?
Primarily that depends on how big your home is and how many hvac systems you have. For a 1,500 to 2,000 square foot home with one system we can complete the entire sealing operation in about half a day.
How much energy will I save?
The energy you will save also depends on the size of your home. The bigger your home the more leakage 20-30% is. Your leakage will pretty directly affect your energy usage however. Your system may only need to run ⅔ as long to maintain the same set temperature if you were losing 30% of your air to your attic or basement.
Is it expensive to seal my ducts?
Manually sealing your ductwork is time consuming and very imperfect. Imagine having to get down into the boots of each duct connection and seal them with mastic sealant. Many of these connections are buried in walls, under insulation, or between floor joists. It’s very difficult to do a good sealing job on existing construction. This manual operation is both time consuming and expensive. Our Aeroseal® approach starts at $1,500 for a single system in a small home – and can be even more cost-effective when bundled with the purchase of a new system!
What if I have old ductwork?
Old ductwork is the worst for leaks. Especially old “hard” or metal ductwork. We can look at your ductwork and determine whether you should replace it or seal what you have. In many cases we can seal your ducts and fix insulation problems to dramatically improve the performance of your ductwork at a fraction of the cost of replacement.
Should I just replace my ducts?
No. Let us take a look first and we can advise you whether your old ductwork can be improved or does in fact need to be replaced.
Is Aeroseal® dangerous to my family or pets?
No, Aeroseal® is a safe, non-toxic, and environmentally safe product that has been used for nearly 20 years in hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses across the country.
What if my ductwork is dirty?
Dirty ductwork doesn’t interfere with the sealing process but if you are concerned about your ductwork being dirty it might be best to have it cleaned first.
Is your work guaranteed?
Yes, we will show you a report of your duct leakage before we start and after we finish. If your initial report shows low leakage (under 10%) we will give you the option of simply paying for the report and we don’t have to go forward with the full sealing process.
Is there any downside to sealing my ducts from the inside?
No, there is no downside. It’s the most cost-effective and the best performing way to seal your ductwork. Manual sealing of ductwork does not provide the level of tightness/seal that Aeroseal® provides.
