HVAC Tune Up

Why Get an HVAC Tune Up for Your System?

Just because your home’s HVAC heating, cooling, or air-conditioning system worked at the end of the last season doesn’t mean it will start up and run safely and efficiently when you start them up for the first time this season. A professional heating or cooling tune up will ensure that your system is checked out thoroughly and is ready to go when the temperatures change.

Air-conditioning systems rely on a closed loop containing refrigerant. This refrigerant is contained within a network made up of copper tubing and the system’s compressor. This copper tubing is under pressure, so even a pinhole leak can render your system useless or make it perform inefficiently. There are other mechanical components that might also stop working when they’re not used. Our rigorous tune-up process inspects, cleans, lubricates, and protects your system for the upcoming season. We also provide a complete system health report, so you can see at a glance exactly where each component stands.

There are different types of heating systems, and many (such as heat pumps that are common in NC) have primary and secondary heat sources. Heating systems contain many mechanical parts such as heat strips, ignitors, heat exchangers, compressors, reversing valves, and copper tubing. Of course there are also electronic parts to control everything. It is very important to ensure proper working order of your heating system for safety and comfort. When temperatures drop, your family may be at risk if you have a system failure. If you have a gas heating system, it is especially important to get it checked annually for proper function and safety.

We were very pleased with Comfort Monster's attention to detail, thorough cleaning, & system check. With other companies, we have never received such detailed reports/explanations. We were also pleased that they reported our old system seems to be in generally good shape. We highly recommend them!

I was so pleased with their service that I switched my annual maintenance contract over to them. The technicians are experts in their field and very professional in delivery of their service. What surprised me the most was the amount of information they provided to me about my systems, not only verbally but in a very detailed written report. They also provided options as to short term and long term maintenance and replacement options ... I felt I could trust they were providing me the information I needed to make the best choice for me, rather than trying to upsell me.

Wonderful experience with Comfort Monster. The tech arrived within an hour of making the call, diagnosed the problem and had the part on the truck. We were back up and running in no time! He explained everything in detail and was super polite and respectful of our home. Will definitely use these guys again.

Learn About Some Common Issues a Tune-Up Could Find

What does it do?

In order to get the promised lifespan out of the A/C unit or heat pump, pressures in the system should be kept within a system-designed range. Regular testing and tuning of the HVAC unit reduces energy costs and extends the life of the unit.

Why did it fail?

Freon charge commonly fails due to leaking coils.  Systems are designed not to need a “recharge” of Freon. Coils are typically where Freon leaks occur.

Will it fail again?

The coils, with proper maintenance and usage, should last 10 to 15 years.
