Our hunt is over for this year, and what a hunt it was! Families made some awesome and hilarious videos, did some good deeds, and generally had fun all over the Triangle – and the 25 best teams were awarded some really great prizes. If you didn’t win this time, you’re just going to have to up your game next year!!

Join us on Saturday, May 1st, 2021 for a giant Triangle-wide scavenger hunt extravaganza brought to you by Comfort Monster Heating & Air and Search in the City! It’s free, Covid-safe, & an activity you can do with the whole family.

On Saturday from 9am-5pm, you’ll journey around the Triangle completing tasks, taking photos, and having a great time. The top 25 teams will win amazing prizes from local sponsors, and the grand prize will be a week-long stay at Harbour Rock Villa in Turks and Caicos! Details: Once you receive your list of tasks, you and your family takes off around the Triangle! Post your photos on Instagram to show each completed task and move on to the next, all while making memories, having a blast and competing for great prizes!

FAQs about the Comfort Monster Scavenger Hunt

What day is the hunt?
Saturday, May 1st, 2021, from 9am to 5pm.

What if it rains?
We will reschedule for Sunday, May 2nd, 2021, from 9am to 5pm.

How much does it cost?
Free!!!

Is it family-friendly? What ages do you recommend?
Yes. The hunt will take you to many family-friendly stops. Ages 8 and up would probably get the most enjoyment out of it, but  all ages are welcome to participate. 

Is it Covid-safe?
Comfy thinks so! Almost all challenges will be outside, and we have carefully designed the event to be in accordance with recommendations by governing bodies and accepted science. You will still need to use your best judgement for you and your family. 

Where will the hunt happen?
All across the Triangle. Think Wendell to Hillsborough and Wake Forest to Holly Springs and everything in between. 

Do I need to sign a waiver?
Yes. You will do that at the totem pick-up. 

When is the totem-pick up? Do I have to pick up a totem beforehand?
Totem pick-up is Tuesday, April 27th – Friday, April 30th from 12:30pm-2:30pm at Comfort Monster Heating and Air Headquarters (4509 Creedmoor Rd Ste 201 Raleigh, NC 27612). Park in the parking deck, enter the main building, take the elevator to the 2nd floor, enter the co-working space, “Spaces.” and you’ll see us in the lobby. 

NEW OPTION: Print out a copy of the totem from here. You will also need to sign this waiver and return to us before beginning the hunt for your points to count.

You can also pick up your team’s totem and sign the waiver on the day of the hunt on Saturday, May 1st from 8:00am-11:00am at Benelux Coffee (402 Oberlin Road Suite 118, Raleigh, NC 27605). During totem-pick up you will do the following things: sign the waiver, pick up your team’s totem, get help downloading the app & get the accompanying password. Yes, all picture and video challenges will require a totem.

What is a totem?
It’s a visual marker for your team to validate your photos and videos during the hunt. For this hunt, it will be a Comfort Monster-themed totem. 

What are the Pre-Challenge Challenges?

These are extra challenges you can do before the official hunt date. These challenges will be available from April 27th-April 30th. They will earn your team extra points that go towards your final score, and they will allow you to get used to the app, Scavify.

What is Scavify?
Scavify is the app we are using to organize our hunt. You can download it to your phone. The hunt is password protected. This is information you will get when you pick up your team’s totem. 

What are the challenges like?
The challenges are a mixture of photo, video, question & answer, GPS, and QR code challenges. 

Are the challenges based on points? How do you determine points?
Yes. Each challenge has a set amount of points assigned to it. We assigned points mostly by 

difficulty. 

Are the challenges doable for people with a mobility-impairment?
Most are. Parking is available for most tasks, and paved walkways are nearby too. There are a few tasks that have gravel and/or are in wooded areas. 

Will we receive all the clues at once or one at a time?
All at once at 9am on May 1st. The Pre-Challenge Challenges you’ll receive all at once when you pick up your totem and sign into the password protected hunt. That being said, there are a few challenges that will pop up throughout the hunt that are time sensitive. You will get a notification through the app when this happens. 

Do we have to do the clues in a certain order? Do we have to complete all challenges?
No & No. Do them in any order you please, and pick & choose the ones you want to complete. 

How should I prepare for the day of the hunt?
Fill up your gas tank, charge your phone, & use the restroom before the race begins. Bring a phone charger, snacks, packed lunch (or stop on the road) & water. 

How do I win?
Having the most points AFTER the grading period.

What is the “grading period”?
This is the time it will take the judges to go through all submissions.

When will I find out if I won? And how will I know?
By Sunday, May 9th. This allows the judges time to look through all submissions and make sure all submissions are correct. We will contact you via email. Please make sure your email account is not over its quota, and also check your spam. 

What if there is a tie?
We will spin a wheel for ties.
